I'm closing this LJ. Kinda. I'm not deleting it because I want to keep the entries, however I'm not writing anymore. There are people that won't go away from this journal and I don't want them reading it anymore.

So, got to see the All American Rejects last night at San Jose University. I'm sorry? But they really do suck live. They suck. The lead singer can't hit his high notes, and he sang in a weird CrEePy voice. And Holy Crapola. Leslie and I got squished by the people in the "mosh pit" (you weren't really allowed to mosh." I've GOT to go to bed NOW. It's bad enough I skipped school (well, my online seminar) but I didn't do NO HOMEWORK today. I'll play catchup tomorrow and just be late. I just...have no energy. Someone remind me to write about my mosh experience so I don't forget? Thank you. Night all.

Good update: I'm covered by insurance. The insurance company was supposed to send a form that we fill out that says we're still in school two months before they said it was cancelled, and they didn't, so they easily reinstated it. They would have cancelled Val's, too, from the sound of it.

Did anyone hear about Steve Irwin's death? I'm not surprised that it happened to one of these extreme adventerous risk taking people, but none the less it's still quite a shock that he was killed, and by a sting ray, no less. He tempted fate with crocadiles and a sting ray is what killed him. I feel terrible for his wife--he was only 44 and she's left with an 8 year old and 3 year old.

August 28th, 2006 (05:17 pm)

To make a long story short:
July--Requested Leave of Absence from Kaplan for summer term
August--Was notified by Kaplan I was dropped
--HUH!?!
--Accidental drop incurred extra charges on my account no one will speak to me about
--At least I'm still enrolled

And then... dun dun DUN

Today--Letter recieved from insurance company informing me my benefits will stop on August 31. THIS THURSDAY.

No one is answering any phones, we're all freaking out, I'm crying. What the hell am I supposed to do without insurance!? I'm part time--my job is going to eventually be full, but I'm not there yet. ARGH

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting
Jane Austen would be mortified.
It is the worst adaptation of a novel to a movie I have ever watched.
And not just because I knew the story already.
It caused me a great loss of important brain cells.

Pluto

August 24th, 2006 (07:51 am)

Whoa. Pluto is no longer a planet. That's really big
stuff, if you think about it. (Those last three
sentences really showcase my intelligence, don't
they?)

There is an article on Yahoo here if anyone is
interested in reading it:
http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20060824/ap_on_sc/planet_mutiny_9

For those that don't want to read it but are still
interested, here are a few important highlights from
the article: (Some sentences have been restructured)

The International Astronomical Union (a conference of
2,500 astronomers from 75 countries) stripped Pluto of
the planetary status it has held since its discovery
in 1930.

Much-maligned Pluto doesn't make the grade under the
new rules for a planet: "a celestial body that is in
orbit around the sun, has sufficient mass for its
self-gravity to overcome rigid body forces so that it
assumes a ... nearly round shape, and has cleared the
neighborhood around its orbit."

Pluto is automatically disqualified because its oblong
orbit overlaps with Neptune's.

Instead, it will be reclassified in a new category of
"dwarf planets, a term that will apply to numerous
asteroids, comets and other natural satellites.

August 22nd, 2006 (10:58 pm)

I helped my best friend, Hilary, move her stuff into her apartment at Stockton today. Greatest line from the day: I can't believe I made my best friend, who has asthma and carpal tunnel, help me move up four stories in 100 degree weather. I'm so nice. But we got it done! And lounged around in our bras, gasping for breath, until we could get enough energy to crawl down the three flights of stairs, down to the car with the air conditioning.

Afterwards, we went to San Jose on the way home to see where her sister is staying while she's going to the University there and had some dinner. It was a pretty awesome day.

And tomorrow is my birthday. Which is neat. Until I realize I'm 23. 23. That's nearly a quarter of a century. I need to get out and do something!
